₱1.7 Million Aid for Mananga Fire Victims from the Capitol

Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro has approved ₱1.7 million in financial assistance for 248 families affected by the fire that broke out on June 25, 2025, in Sitio Mananga II, Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City.
According to a Facebook post by the Province of Cebu, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Assistant Department Head Marirose Lopez stated that:
-140 families who lost their homes completely will receive ₱10,000 each,
-16 families whose houses were partially damaged will receive ₱6,000 each, and
-92 renters and sharers will each receive ₱3,000.
Talisay City Mayor Samsam Gullas requested financial support from the Cebu Provincial Government on July 3, on behalf of the fire victims.
Governor Baricuatro promptly approved the assistance on the same day and personally visited the evacuation site to assess the condition of the survivors.
During her visit, she became emotional upon witnessing the difficult situation of the affected families. She gave her assurance that the Capitol would provide both material and emotional support.
“We are here with Mayor Samsam to offer what little help we can at this time and to give you moral support in this tragedy that struck Talisay,” she said.
The fire lasted nearly two hours, destroying homes and properties, and caused an estimated ₱2.55 million in damages, based on the Bureau of Fire Protection’s investigation.
The displaced families are temporarily housed at the Barangay Tabunok Gymnasium.
The fire is believed to have started in Sitio Jacinto and quickly spread to neighboring homes, many of which were made of light materials.
While financial aid is being processed, the PSWDO has ensured the continuous distribution of relief goods to affected families.
