Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh! all people should wear smiling faces Our hearts should hold love’s embraces Nations ought to turn from hate to peace And my soul should find its sweet release But why O my Lord, at the break of day That joy within me, seems to slip away I scorn every crowd that tread my path And curse my own and friends’ wrath "Happy Valentine’s Day!", few others say As love songs are cruising along the way Although my heart throbs a little faintly It is nothing more, but a lover's heyday


This poem was quietly written between 9:00 and 9:10 a.m. on February 14, 1990, just minutes before our Cultural Anthropology teacher arrived.
